Inosuke Hashibira usually rushes into battle without giving it much thought. Inosuke is very good at taking care of himself, but he has a tendency to overestimate his own skills. This gets him into trouble, especially since he is always trying to fight anyone who could possibly beat him.

Inosuke’s Story of Becoming a Demon Slayer

A Demon Slayer runs into Inosuke in his mountain before the Final Selection. They had a fight to see who was stronger, and Inosuke won. As a reward, the Slayer gave him his weapon. Inosuke learns more about demons and decides to join the Demon Slayer Corps, thus Inosuke becoming a Demon Slayer in Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Inosuke does take part in the Final Selection at Mt. Fujikasane, but he doesn’t show up on-screen at all during this arc. Kagaya Ubuyashiki gives a hint that he is there when a crow tells him the results of the selection.

Inosuke History

We find that Inosuke was born into a family where his father was abusive and that he and his mother ran away from their father.

After that, Doma took Inosuke, who was still a baby at the time, and his mother into his Paradise Faith cult. Kotoha liked to sing to Inosuke, but it seems that each time she did, she changed the words to the song. But when Kotoha and her son found out that Doma ate the people who worshipped him, they ran away.

Kotoha ended up at the top of a cliff after running around aimlessly trying to find a village of people. Since there was no way out, she dropped Inosuke into the river below the cliff as a last-ditch effort to save him. After that, Doma ate her up. Later, Inosuke was found by boars, who took care of him and raised him.

Inosuke was raised by boars as a child, and the way he wears his hats shows that. Inosuke’s background makes it hard for him to understand human feelings, customs, and traditions. However, he is slowly changing because he is part of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Does Inosuke become a Hashira?

No, by the end of the Manga, we don’t see Inosuke becoming a Hashira. The major reason is that he was not eligible to become a Hashira, no matter how strong. The demanding eligibility criteria for a Demon Slayer to become a Hashira is to kill at least 50 demons or one of the Twelve Kizuki. It’s sad as he is one of the main characters in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

We see that Inosuke wanted to be a Hashira and even thought of names. It is shown in the Infinity Castle Arc, as Doma sends his Blood Demon Art, Scattering Lotuses, at Kanao, Inosuke suddenly breaks through the ceiling of the room and uses his Beast Breathing, Fifth Fang: Crazy Cutting, to protect Kanao from Doma’s attack. He looks at Doma’s eyes and sees that he’s Upper Rank 2. He screams that he’ll become a Hashira if he beats the Demon and asks Kanao what his Hashira title should be.

The fact that he was a Demon Slayer and developed his own breathing style is already a feat that only a few could achieve.

Final Thoughts

Though, Inosuke is capable of becoming a Hashira with his Beast Breathing Style and powerful skills. He doesn’t choose to walk that path. By the end of the Manga and after killing Muzan, he lives peacefully and dies a happy man or beast.
