Who Killed Rengoku/How Did Rengoku Die?

Akaza kills Rengoku in the Mugen Train Arc. Akaza tries to kill Tanjiro by considering him weak and not fit for the world. Just then, Rengoku saves Tanjiro and starts fighting the Upper Rank Three. They both fight till sunrise, but Akaza runs away, leaving Rengoku to die.

The Fight Leading To Rengoku’s Death

Now we will see the fight leading to Rengoku’s death.

The Great Battle

Not long after Tanjiro, Rengoku, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko defeat Enmu and save the passengers, Akaza appears. When he notices Tanjiro on the ground, he immediately approaches to murder him.

Rengoku slices his arm in half to stop him. Akaza swiftly bandaged the wound and admired his weapon. When asked why he attacked someone who was injured, he said he simply wanted to get rid of him before speaking with Rengoku. He believes that his fighting spirit is at its peak as a Hashira. Therefore, he attempts to transform himself into a demon.

He claims that if he were a person, he would age and die, but if he were a demon, he could continue to get stronger. When Rengoku continues to say no and disputes with Akaza, Akaza becomes enraged and declares that he will murder Rengoku instead. He then employs Destructive Death: Compass Needle.

Tanjiro and Inosuke stand back and watch Akaza and Rengoku battle. They are both aware that their strengths are vastly different.

Akaza Attempts to Recruit Rengoku

Akaza is frequently injured, but his wounds heal swiftly. He mocks Rengoku by claiming that none of the Hashiras he has killed has ever agreed to change their ways after he has asked them. The monster leaps into the air and attacks Rengoku with an Air Type assault, knocking him back for a brief while before stopping. Flame Hashira goes fast forward since he thinks fighting from a distance will be difficult. He tries to attack close up, but every stroke is stopped or dodged.

Akaza mocks him once more since his human strength is dwindling in comparison to his demon strength. He also tries to persuade Rengoku to change, but Rengoku refuses, declaring he will not be like him. They fight again, and Inosuke claims he can’t aid Rengoku since he’s too slow and would die immediately if he tried. Akaza begins to assault the Hashira, doing significant damage to it.

Rengoku’s sword attacks are pointless because the demon heals swiftly, and as he continues to employ Flame Breathing, he becomes increasingly frantic. Rengoku is able to catch his breath when Akaza abruptly moves away.

However, Tanjiro and Inosuke notice that Rengoku is seriously bleeding, but Akaza is well.

Hashira Goes All In

Rengoku’s many wounds are mocked anew by Akaza, despite the fact that they had already healed because he was a demon fighting a losing war as a human. Rengoku’s body is suddenly filled with fire. He informs the demon that he will carry out his duties as a Hashira, which perplexes and amazes the demon.

Rengoku decided to injure him as much as possible, even if it meant death, and used Flame Breathing: Esoteric Art swiftly. Akaza is thrilled by his opponent’s willingness to battle, so he urges him to transform into a demon so they can continue fighting indefinitely. He declares himself to be the Flame Hashira, then employs Flame Breathing, Ninth Form: Rengoku, and charges forward.

In retaliation, Akaza employs “Destructive Death: Annihilation Type.” Rengoku severed Akaza’s arm, chest, and nearly all of his neck. Akaza, on the other hand, inserted his arm into Rengoku’s solar plexus. Akaza begs him to turn into a monster. He is aware that the wound he inflicted on his opponent will kill him, and he is amazed that he is still fighting.

He explains that he was picked since he is one of the few influential individuals. Rengoku again says no, citing his mother’s advice to watch out for the weak. He smashes his blade deeper into Akaza’s neck and even catches Akaza’s fist when he tries to attack him with his free hand, which catches the demon off guard.

Rengoku’s Death (Tanjiro vs Akaza)

As the light rises, Akaza attempts to flee, but Rengoku stops him because he refuses to give up. Tanjiro and Inosuke try to assist Hashira since they require assistance. Inosuke fights the demon with Fang One: Pierce.

Akaza stomps on the ground and rips his own arms off Rengoku’s body. This generates a shockwave, knocking Inosuke away and giving him the opportunity to flee. Tanjiro dashes for the Upper Moon, brandishing his Nichirin Blade. The blade pierces the Upper Moon’s chest. When Akaza hears Tanjiro’s screams, he calls him a coward for fleeing.

This irritates Tanjiro, so he tells himself that he’s running away from the sun, not himself. Akaza abandons Inosuke and Tanjiro.

Conclusion – Who Killed Rengoku?

Finally, to answer the question – Who killed Rengoku? It was Akaza, the Upper Moon Rank Three belonging to the Twelve Kizuki. He fought Rengoku out of nowhere and was able to out skill Rengoku in the fight.
