Kokushibo’s Blood Demon Art is Crescent Moon Blades.

He is the current Upper Moon Rank One and when it comes to power, he sure packs a punch that very few can match. Among all the demons in Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kokushibo has the greatest amount of Muzan’s blood and he can use also use breathing styles like demon slayers.

Kokushibo, before he became a demon was the elder brother of Yoriichi, the strongest demon slayer of all times and the founder of breathing styles.

He became a demon nearly 500 years ago during the Sengoku Era. To everyone’s surprise, he was a demon slayer before he became a demon. He was proficient in the use of swords and managed to kill many demons.

Kokushibo Blood Demon Art – Crescent Moon Blades

Kokushibo is the first demon who can use breathing style (which is unique to Demon Slayers) and Blood Demon Art (which is unique to Demons). The only other demon who can use the breathing style in Demon Slayer is Kaigaku, Zenitsu’s mentor.

Primary Ability – Crescent Moon (Blood Demon Art)

To go with his breathing style, “Moon Breathing,” he can use his Blood Demon Art to turn his flesh katana into dozens of sharp blades that look like traditional crescent moons. Because of Kokushibo’s refined, strong, and durable body, it is said that the sword is even stronger than a normal Nichirin sword.

They look like they were made from his blood, and they are majorly bright yellow or bright blue.

Because the size, length, and speed of these crescent moon blades are always changing, Kokushibo’s attacks are very random and hard to predict because they don’t follow a set pattern. Demon Slayers have a hard time getting around his Blood Demon Art because it changes all the time. Sanemi said that he wouldn’t have been able to defend himself against Kokushibo’s attacks if he hadn’t been hunting demons for so long.

This Blood Demon Art gives him a lot more power in his techniques, making every sword swing he makes very dangerous and deadly.

He also seems to be able to use his Blood Demon Art as long as his katana is out of its scabbard. This lets him make crescent moon blades even if he doesn’t swing his sword or use a technique.

Secondary Ability – Dynamic Slashes (Moon Breathing Style)

Kokushibo’s Blood Demon Art seems to have a secondary ability that lets him change the shape and range of his sword slashes when he uses his Moon Breathing techniques. He has buffed all his moon breathing styles that he learned when he was a human to an insane superdemon level.

His slashes usually make a red or orange demonic crescent shape that goes around his crescent moon blades and carries them.

He seems to be able to control these slashes to some degree, extending their range and changing their shape to attack his target in ways that would be impossible under normal circumstances.

Kokushibo – Blood Demon Art x Breathing Forms

Kokushibo uses around sixteen forms of moon breathing combined with his blood demon art. But, during his fights, he uses only eleven of these. So, we will probably won’t know what his other skills are.

First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace

Kokushibo quickly pulls out his sword and cuts quickly in a single horizontal motion in the shape of a crescent, making a lot of deadly crescent-shaped blades. It is basically a horizontal forward slash which leaves a trail of crescent-shaped blades (which are created by his blood demon art).

Second Form: Pearl Flower Moongazing

Kokushibo releases multiple crescent-shaped slashes to protect himself from incoming attacks. The slashes send small projectiles of crescent blades at the opponent. This technique usually helps him with the offense as well as defense.

Third Form: Loathsome Moon, Chains

Kokushibo quickly swings his sword in two huge crescent shapes, which start a storm of smaller crescents that cause a lot of damage in a small area. It usually creates a small storm of crescent blades. Anyone even touching the storm for a brief time would be cut into pieces. It is a great ability to do some area control.

Fifth Form: Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy

Kokushibo makes several curved cuts on top of each other. This creates a rising vortex of sword cuts and crescent moon blades. Each slash has an immense amount of crescent moon blades that can take an average human’s life in a fraction of a second. The vortex continuously grows as long as Kokushibo keeps making the slashes.

Sixth Form: Perpetual Night, Lonely Moon – Incessant

Kokushibo fires a wild barrage of crescent-shaped slashes several meters in front of him. This technique was strong enough to defeat Sanemi Shinazugawa and had such a long range that it cut through the pillars around it. It can impact a wide range and anyone standing inside.

Seventh Form: Mirror of Misfortune, Moonlit

Kokushibo swings the huge version of his sword in a powerful crescent-shaped frontal slash that makes powerful, long-range slashes in the ground in many different directions. It can usually cover around 60 – 100 degrees of an area in front of him. The slashes are insanely fast and almost seem like they will destroy everything in their path.

Eighth Form: Moon-Dragon Ringtail

From here on, Kokushibo changes the length of his sword. He uses the huge version of his sword. He makes a single huge crescent-shaped slash that slowly gets smaller, making dozens of crescent moon blades. The ability itself can make anyone not want to fight with him. Even the aura and color of crescent moon blades change from now on.

Ninth Form: Waning Moonswaths

Kokushibo uses the huge version of his sword to make a stream of long-range crescent-shaped vertical and horizontal slashes and a lot of crescent-shaped moon blades along the way.

Tenth Form: Drilling Slashes, Moon Through Bamboo Leaves:

Kokushibo makes a long-ranged triple-layered slash twister full of crescent moon blades.

Fourteenth Form: Catastrophe, Tenman Crescent Moon

Kokushibo uses the huge version of his sword to make a chaotic vortex of powerful, long-ranged slashes that go in all directions and destroy anything caught in it. Only a genius or prodigy can dodge the blades and slashes. It creates a large area of damage.

Sixteenth Form: Moonbow, Half Moon

Kokushibo sends a barrage of downward crescent slashes from a very long and wide distance, resulting in a powerful six-fold slash that crashes down on his opponents. The attack is strong enough to make several small craters where the slashes land. The final form of Kokushibo has the power to take anyone’s life in an instant.

Kokushibo’s Sword

Flesh Katana

Kokushibo carries a Nichirin Katana that has been created by him to look like flesh. He used this sword when he was a Demon Slayer. As its look suggests, the katana is made from Kokushibo’s own flesh and blood. Because his body is so strong and hard, the katana is as sharp, if not sharper, than a regular Nichirin Sword.

His sword is a fleshy red color that looks like blood, and it has veins and his eyes all over the blade and even the handle. But no one knows if those eyes can be used to help him see further.

The handle of his katana is round and has four small dents, three eyes in the middle, several black veins, and a golden edge. He also wears a sword sheath around his waist that looks like it was made of flesh like his katana. The second databook says that Kokushibo named his flesh katana Kyokokukamusari, which means “Hollow Cry of the Godless.”

Final Thoughts

Kokushibo’s Blood Demon Art, Crescent Moon Blades is an incredibly powerful skill. When combined with his Moon breathing techniques, it becomes insanely powerful.
